G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training (GOT) Application

In order for a law enforcement professional to be certified to teach any of the G.R.E.A.T. curricula, successful completion of the G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training (GOT) is required. The GOT is composed of online and classroom courses.

Online training requirement:

Prior to attending the classroom portion of the GOT, you must complete a prerequisite online course (approximately ten hours) before you will be allowed to attend the classroom portion of the training.

Classroom requirement:

Once the online training is complete, you must then successfully complete a five-day classroom training, which includes taking a written examination and demonstrating competency in presentation and facilitation skills. On the Monday of your training session, check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m.; class begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. each day.

Agency's Commitment of Officer form requirement:

The Agency's Commitment of Officer form must be completed and returned by your supervisor, committing your agency to allow you time to teach the Program following training. This form must be submitted prior to attending training. Once completed, please submit the form via e-mail to information@great-online.org.

Costs:

Tuition payment is due once the registration application has been approved. The early-registration tuition rate is $1,650. After the early-registration period closes, the standard tuition rate of $1,800 applies. Discounts for bundled agency registrations may be available—contact the G.R.E.A.T. Program Office (GPO) to learn more.

Tuition must be paid in full prior to receiving access to the prerequisite online training course. Tuition fees do not cover lodging, transportation, or meal expenses. Agencies may substitute another participant from the same agency at no additional cost as long as the replacement completes the required online prerequisite course prior to attending the in‑class session. The online course must be completed before any participant may join the in-class training.

Cancellation and refund policy: The GPO understands that circumstances may arise requiring participants to modify or cancel their registration. All cancellation and refund requests must be submitted in writing to the GPO. The following policy outlines the terms for cancellations and associated refunds for a G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training (GOT) session.

Refund Amount Cancellation Window Deadlines
Full refund minus $100 admin fee 45 or more days before in-class start date
50% Refund 44–21 days before class start date
No Refund 20 days or fewer before in-class start date

In place of cancellation, agencies may request to move a participant’s registration to a future session, pending availability. Rescheduling is allowed only if requested before the class session begins; late requests cannot be accommodated.

If the GPO cancels a training session due to unforeseen or unmitigated circumstances, registered participants will receive a full refund of all tuition fees paid or may elect to transfer their registration to a future training session pending availability.
