How is the G.R.E.A.T. Program responding to the coronavirus?

As we continue to navigate and respond to the coronavirus, the G.R.E.A.T. Program is concerned about the health and safety of our G.R.E.A.T. trainers, as well as our current and future G.R.E.A.T. instructors. To this end, all G.R.E.A.T training has been put on hold until gathering and travel restrictions have been lifted. As the situation evolves, and when we have been given the all clear, trainings will be rescheduled.

To our current G.R.E.A.T. instructors, we understand that with schools not meeting, some of you have been asked to provide resources so your students can continue to receive the G.R.E.A.T. Program. The best-case scenario would be to meet with your students virtually in order to guide them through the lessons, which could include sharing your screen to show the classroom slideshows. However, we do not recommend allowing the students to simply go through the slideshows on their own, since the material is so dependent upon being instructor-led. The G.R.E.A.T. Program now offers two issues of a comic book called Team GREAT that would be an excellent resource to share with your students. The comic books are available for download here on the G.R.E.A.T. website. Though the story follows the lessons from the elementary school curriculum, the format and content are applicable to middle school student readers as well. In addition, we are in the process of developing a discussion guide for each issue that you can either go through with your students during a virtual meeting or have your students download and fill out on their own. We will let you know when this is available.

We value your patience as we maneuver this challenging situation and look forward to the day when we can come together again.
