G.R.E.A.T. National Training Committee

The National Training Committee (NTC) provides guidance and oversight for the operational procedures of all G.R.E.A.T. Program training initiative committees and teams. The NTC has authority to implement permanent changes to any G.R.E.A.T. training curricula, subject to approval by the National Policy Board (NPB), and approves scheduling of all training classes. The NTC also reviews issues of importance to the national G.R.E.A.T. Program and provides guidance and advice to the NPB. The NTC oversees the work of the National Training Team (NTT) and of Curriculum Development and Review Committees (CDRC).

National Training Team

The NTT is a select group of about 80 G.R.E.A.T. instructors, educators, and gang experts who serve as the instructors for all G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training courses. To become a member of the NTT, a G.R.E.A.T. instructor must be nominated by his or her commanding officer or a G.R.E.A.T. Regional Administrator, selected through an application-and-interview process, graduate from the G.R.E.A.T. Team Leader Training course, and complete a mentoring/on-the-job training program.

Curriculum Development and Review Committees

CDRC are groups of veteran officers, educators, and other specialists appointed by the NTC to create new curricula, as needed, and improve the existing G.R.E.A.T. curricula, as warranted. A separate CDRC is appointed for each curriculum project. Each CDRC must present all recommendations and improvements to the NTC for approval before implementation.
