The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Hart Middle School today announced the graduation of 40 Hart Middle School students from the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program, as the program marks its 20th anniversary.
Oregon Senator Wyden gave recognition to the G.R.E.A.T. Program and its 20 years of success on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, during the U.S. Senate proceedings.
FY2010 funding was especially challenging. Rather than incur the costs associated with posting solicitation and the peer review process used to score applications, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) decided to fund applications received for the FY2009 solicitation, which, while high scoring and proposing to create new programs, were not funded last year due to insufficient funds in the appropriation.
