GREATINFO is an online discussion group available for professionals affiliated with the G.R.E.A.T. Program where members can exchange information and hold discussions about topics related to the G.R.E.A.T. Program.

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) sponsors regional advanced training for G.R.E.A.T. instructors who have taught G.R.E.A.T. for at least one year.

With the recent passing of Steve Naughton, the G.R.E.A.T. Program lost one of its finest supporters and dearest friends. Steve was a Philadelphia police sergeant and the former G.R.E.A.T. Northeast Regional Administrator. First in his role as a patrol officer and G.R.E.A.T. instructor and later as a supervisor and administrator, he positively impacted the lives of thousands of school children in Philadelphia and also assisted hundreds of fellow officers from throughout the Northeast Region and other parts of the country. Steve’s influence, not only in Philadelphia but as part of the national leadership of the G.R.E.A.T. Program, was immeasurable.

Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) is a gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curricula. The program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership for children in the years immediately before the prime ages for introduction into gangs and delinquent behavior.

G.R.E.A.T. has developed partnerships with nationally recognized organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues. These partnerships encourage positive relationships among the community, parents, schools, and law enforcement officers.

G.R.E.A.T. Introduction

G.R.E.A.T. lessons focus on providing life skills to students to help them avoid using delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems. The G.R.E.A.T. Program offers a continuum of components for students and their families.

The G.R.E.A.T. Program consists of four components: a 13-session middle school curriculum, an elementary school curriculum, a summer program, and families training.

Four regional training centers provide training to sworn law enforcement officers to teach the G.R.E.A.T. curriculum in elementary and middle schools across the country.
