The G.R.E.A.T. Program consists of four interrelated components, each designed to target different audiences; namely, middle school and elementary school students and their families. The components meet each target group's needs and skills and satisfy age-appropriate goals. The components can stand alone to teach the necessary skills and attitudes that will help youth resist the pressures to become involved in gang behavior and avoid situations that could lead to violence. The ultimate goal is to create positive behavior changes.
The middle school component is the principal curriculum and is the foundation of the G.R.E.A.T. Program. The elementary, summer, and families components greatly enhance and serve to reinforce the concepts taught in the middle school curriculum.
